2019’s Fair-weather Friends is Tex’s 5th studio album, a thematic companion to his 6th (Kinfolk), featuring 11 self penned unreleased recordings capturing the intimacy of the songs in their simplest form. Representative of his solo acoustic performances, Fair-weather Friends is more in the style of a Folk album than any of his other albums released to date. Recorded just prior to the Kinfolk sessions by Steven Collins (Deadman) in Lockhart TX: "These songs were recorded using a 1960's circuit path. RCA ribbon microphones through vintage preamplifier and compressors captured performances as they were with the best takes selected. The result is hearing songs in their purest form before being arranged for a band or by a producer. In my opinion, this technique makes the songs more focused to the listener than if other things were added. The world has gotten complicated and cluttered. These songs are the antithesis of that."
